HDPE-lined containment cells, on-site bioremediation, crushing, sorting and controlled removal to licensed end-disposal sites. At Mekorot's Ein Kerem station we dealt with tens of thousands of tonnes of fuel-contaminated soil.

Sometimes contaminated soil only shows up once the bucket goes into the ground. Then you need a contractor who can keep digging, separate, treat and remove the soil to the regulator's instructions, without losing control of the site.
That is what happened at Mekorot's Ein Kerem station (2017–2019). During the works, an exceptional quantity of fuel-contaminated soil was discovered — tens of thousands of tonnes, at concentrations of 100 times the threshold value and more. The company built HDPE-lined containment cells covering more than 6,000 m², and carried out on-site bioremediation of about 9,500 tonnes, crushing, sorting and controlled removal to licensed end-disposal sites, with an environmental consultant and the approval of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
It was not our first such project. At Rafa Laboratories in Har Hotzvim (2010) and at the Shalva Center in Bayit Vegan (2009–2013) we removed and replaced contaminated soil as part of the earthworks and excavation.
